Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
MeloNote ("we", "us", or "our") is a personal workspace for tasks, expenses, notes, journals, groups, and important dates. This policy explains what information MeloNote handles, why it is handled, when it is shared, and the choices available to you.
1. Information MeloNote Handles
- Account information: email address, username, avatar, and sign-in identifiers when you use email, Apple, or Google sign-in. You can use many local features without an account.
- Your content: tasks and reminders, expense records, notes and journal entries, moods, favorites, group names, group messages, group tasks, important dates, and settings you create.
- Attachments: photos and audio clips that you attach to a journal entry. The media files are kept in the app's local storage; when you are signed in, the service may sync the associated entry and attachment references.
- Voice and text sent for AI features: microphone audio for speech-to-text, transcribed text for task or expense parsing, journal text when you request AI polish, and assistant messages or selected records when you use the optional assistant.
- Device and app information: timezone, local date and time, language, notification settings, app version, and limited diagnostic information needed for reminders, date interpretation, security, and support.
- Subscription information: product identifier, transaction information, entitlement state, and expiry information supplied by Apple or Google to manage Premium access. Payment card details are handled by the store and are not sent to MeloNote.
- Notification information: a push token and an installation identifier if you sign in and enable important-date notifications.
- Referral code: if you open a supported invitation link, MeloNote checks the clipboard once on first launch for a matching invitation code. It does not store or upload unrelated clipboard contents.
2. How Information Is Collected
- From you: when you type, record, photograph, edit, share with a group, sign in, buy a subscription, or change a setting.
- From your device: microphone, camera, photo library, local storage, timezone, and notification services only after the relevant permission is granted.
- From app stores and identity providers: sign-in results and subscription status from Apple, Google, and Firebase services used to authenticate or verify purchases.
3. AI and Speech Processing
Voice transcription and some AI features use Alibaba Cloud DashScope and Qwen services. The first time a voice or AI feature needs to send data, MeloNote shows an in-app disclosure and asks for consent.
- Voice audio is sent for the speech-to-text request you start.
- Transcribed text, group context, timezone, and the details needed for a requested task or expense parse may be sent for that request.
- Journal text is sent only when you choose an AI polish action.
- Assistant conversations and the records needed to answer a request are sent to MeloNote's authenticated service and its configured model provider when you use the assistant.
These services process data to return the requested result. Their handling is also subject to their own privacy and security terms. You can withdraw MeloNote's AI consent from Profile > Account > AI Data Sharing; manual entry remains available.
4. How We Use Information
- Provide local notes, journals, tasks, reminders, expenses, groups, and important-date features.
- Sync selected content across your devices when you sign in.
- Interpret voice input and provide the AI result you requested.
- Deliver reminders and important-date notifications when you enable them.
- Verify subscriptions, enforce usage limits, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
5. When Information Is Shared
- MeloNote's service: account data and signed-in content needed for authentication, sync, groups, subscriptions, important dates, and account deletion.
- Alibaba Cloud DashScope / Qwen: voice, text, context, or journal content described in Section 3, only for the AI action you request.
- Apple, Google, and Firebase: authentication, purchase verification, and optional push notification delivery.
- Other group members: content you intentionally post to a group.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers.
6. Security
Network traffic between the app, MeloNote's service, and configured AI providers uses HTTPS/TLS or secure WebSocket connections. Local data is stored in the app's private storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so keep your device and account credentials protected.
7. Retention
Local content remains on your device until you edit or delete it, remove the app, or clear its data. Signed-in content remains on the service while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. AI providers may retain request data according to their published terms and processing settings.
8. Your Choices and Deletion
- AI consent: grant or withdraw consent in Profile > Account > AI Data Sharing.
- Permissions: manage microphone, camera, photos, and notifications in your device settings.
- Content: edit or delete individual tasks, expenses, notes, journals, groups, and important dates in the app.
- Account deletion: use Profile > Account > Delete Account. This permanently deletes the authenticated account and associated cloud records, including assistant data, subject to limited legal or security retention. Local data on the current device is cleared as part of the flow.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings.
9. Children's Privacy
MeloNote is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when MeloNote's features or data practices change. We will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide an in-app notice.
